DESCRIPTION
Optical Design

The Nikon Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S Lens features a combination of Super ED and six ED glass elements to minimise chromatic aberrations and colour fringing. This lens also features ARNEO and Nano Crystal coats to prevent ghosting, reflections and flare within the lens for improved contrast and clarity when working in strong lighting conditions and backlit conditions.

Autofocus and Vibration Reduction

Two separate AF drive units with stepping motors are synchronized to deliver quiet, fast and accurate focusing throughout the entire zoom range, making this super-telephoto zoom lens ideal for both video and still applications. An internal focusing design is employed where only the internal glass elements move to create a compact form factor during use and promote faster-focusing speeds. A minimum focusing distance of only 75cm and a maximum magnification of 0.38x improve the performance of the Nikon Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S Lens when working with close-up subjects.

Handling and Design

The Nikon Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S Lens features a short rotation of just 80° to move between 100mm through to the maximum of 400mm. Integrated OLED lens information panel allows you to quickly confirm aperture setting, focus distance, and depth of field figures right on the lens in both bright and dark situations. Two assignable L.Fn buttons work along with camera-based buttons to enable quick changing of exposure settings, and other functions. The Nikon Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S Lens also features a rotating tripod collar that offers mounting stability when shooting on a monopod or tripod.
