Sensor and image processor features:
20.9 Megapixel DX CMOS Sensor
The Nikon D7500 uses an APS-C/DX crop 20.9 megapixel sensor with a fast readout speed, high light sensitivity and no optical low pass filter. The large megapixel count will provide users to crop, recompose, and produce large prints.
High light-sensitivity range of ISO 50 – 1,640,000
The D7500's sensor features a large native light sensitivity range of ISO 100 - 51,200, and a simply amazing extended ISO range of 50-1,640,00. The high light sensitivity enables the camera to capture imagery in extreme low light conditions, while the low ISO 50 enables shooting at larger apertures or slower shutter speeds without using neutral density filters.
14-bit lossless RAW picture files
By capturing RAW files in 14-bit, users will be able to further push the Nikon D7500 in post processing for even more accurate colours, wider dynamic range and improve noise reduction.
EXPEED 5 image-processing engine
Nikon's advanced EXPEED 5 image engine features faster processors, more memory and improved algorithms to produce colour accurate images, reduce image noise, and enables large image buffers of up to 50 RAW files or 100 Fine JPEG files.
Autofocus and camera performance:
51-point AF system with 15 cross sensors
The D7500 is fitted with a wide 51-point autofocus system with 15 cross-type sensors and group-area AF for sharper, faster detection down to an impressive -3 EV.
180 000 pixel RGB sensor
The Nikon D7500 features a 180 000 pixel RGB sensor which maintains high sensitivity while significantly increasing the pixel count. By having more pixels the camera can now detect and focus/meter on even smaller subjects, and the increased sensitivity enables focusing/metering in dark environments
Autofocus for f/8 (teleconverter) setups
The Nikon D7500 will even autofocus when using lenses that have a maximum aperture of f/8 to make AF possible on select lens and teleconverter combinations.
Built-in focus drive motor
A built in focus drive motor allows the D7500 to focus with AF NIKKOR lenses, including type G, E, and D lenses.
Auto AF fine-tune
Auto AF fine-tune helps you to calibrate your lenses to your camera. The feature works by achieving focus in live view and then letting the camera automatically acquire the AF tuning value.
8-fps continuous shooting with full-time AF/AE up to 100 frames
The D7500 camera delivers stable high-speed continuous shooting at a frame rate of approximately 8 frames per second (8 fps) with full-time autofocus and autoexposure at any image quality or sensitivity, including Hi 5 (ISO 1,640,000) and 14-bit RAW, continuously for up to 100 frames in Fine JPEG or 50 RAW.
Internal 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) video recording
The Nikon D7500 is future proofed by incorporating Ultra HD 4K video recording*. 4K is the latest standard in video resolution and features 2 times more pixels than Full HD. The camera records 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) 30p/25p/24p videos internally for up to 29 minutes*, saving the data onto in-camera memory cards. ISO range stays unchanged to make ISO 1,640,000 available in 4K recording.
Full HD and HD is also available and can be recorded at up to 60 frames per second.
* 4K is recorded at an 1.5X crop.
Uncompressed 4K HDMI output
An uncompressed 4K frame-by-frame live feed can be transferred from the HDMI port to an external display or recorder while recording to internal memory.
3-axis electronic vibration reduction (VR) in Full HD and HD recording
An electronic 3-axis vibration reduction (VR) feature reduces small unwanted camera movements in the horizontal, vertical and rotational directions (centering on the lens) for smooth/fluid and professional video, and can be activated regardless of the lens being used.
The D7500 captures Dot-by-dot meaning that information from every pixel on the image sensor is recorded to produce video with less in-camera processing, delivering detail-rich, high-resolution videos.
Flat picture control
Flat picture control records as much image information as possible to enable more control in post-production. With more control you can produce high-resolution videos that faithfully reflect your creative intentions in a relatively simple process.
Zebra patterning / stripes
The Nikon D7500 features live view Zebra patterning / stripes to help users keep highlights in-check. to aid in correct exposure. When enabled, areas of the image over a certain threshold are filled with stripes to dramatically highlight areas where too much light is falling on the image sensor.
Movie exposure smoothing
When shooting a scene with drastic exposure changes, the D7500 will render everything with gradual transitions via a delicate auto exposure smoothing dedicated to movie recording. Even at high ISO settings, the camera reproduces the changes naturally while maintaining rich tonal gradation and details.
Power aperture control
Power aperture control allows you to continuously change aperture for brightness and depth of field control during filming.
Record time lapse movies in-camera
Time-lapse movies can be easily made directly from the camera. This feature is compatible with any frame size/frame rate or movie quality, including 4K UHD/30p. What’s more, the exposure smoothing function is also available. This efficiently reduces unwanted flicker effects in a time-lapse movie where the brightness changes widely, such as at dawn or dusk, by automatically reducing the subtle exposure variance of each frame in A and other auto modes. The exposure smoothing function is also available in interval timer photography.
Comprehensive sound control
Internal or external microphone sensitivity levels can be adjusted while recording, and sound can be monitored with external headphones.
Body, operation and other features:
Tilting 3.2-inch 922,000-dot LCD touch screen
The Nikon D7500 incorporates a tilting 3.2-inch 922,000-dot touch screen for greater control. The tilting function will enable shooting from low/high angles, while touch capability will enable quick image confirmation via rapid scrolling through thousands of pictures or getting pin-point accurate focus while zooming in live-view.
Optical pentaprism viewfinder with approx. 100% coverage
The optical finder boasts a pentaprism with a coverage of approximately 100% coverage.
Fn1 and Fn2 custom function buttons
The D7500 incorporates two custom function buttons. The function buttons are conveniently placed on the front of the body, and can be for assigned for custom functions such as checking depth of field, or changing remote flash options.
Rugged body with anti-dust and weather sealing
The D7500 uses a monocoque design and extensive weather sealing to withstand moisture, dust and endure heavy use.
Long battery life
The D7500 utilises Nikon's EN-EL15a rechargeable Li-ion battery, enabling it to shoot up to 950 pictures per charge in single-frame release mode. The D7500 is also compatible with older EN-EL15 batteries but will have a lower battery life.
Wifi, Bluetooth, and NFC connectivity with SnapBridge functionality
Connecting devices and sharing your amazing photos are now easier than ever before. The D7500’s SnapBridge functionality enables multiple built-in connectivity options so you can transfer your images to a compatible smart device using either Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, Near Field Communication (NFC), or Wi-Fi connectivity.
